Program managers are struggling to quickly deploy AI capabilities for real-time applications in the field – outside of data centers. These leaders can speed time to market by utilizing scalable commercial compute solutions from vendors with expertise in real-time, AI-ready platforms built for rugged environments.

 

The general edge computing market not only continues to grow quickly, but also to segment quickly, creating new opportunities for forward-looking organizations. “AI transportables” is one such emerging edge segment, combining advanced high-performance computing, in-depth AI support and rugged packaging. This combination creates a flexible, versatile and proven platform. It gives proactive program managers first-mover advantage in deploying AI applications outside of conventional data centers in a wide range of vertical markets.

The growing list of applications for artificial intelligence (AI) covers a wide area including such things as face recognition, image processing, natural language processing, military decision making, robotic control, natural language translation, data mining - the list goes on. When AI service is needed at the “edge,” there is inevitable latency that can compromise in-time response to real situations.

 

As an example, in 2018, only 10% of generated data was created and processed at the edge. By 2025, it is expected to grow to 75%. Processing simply must go out to the edge to meet it without having to transport it to another server environment.

Many amazing advances in technology over the last decade have transformed industries, disrupted verticals and created tremendous new market opportunities. Addressing the surge in data, companies are looking to new technologies that can provide greater storage capacity, as well as support greater data processing and management capabilities.
