One Stop Systems

By Michael Bradley, Commercial Regional Sales Manager

When trying to explain what exactly One Stop Systems (OSS) does, it is easy to state, we repackage enterprise level components so they can be placed at the very edge. Seems easy enough, right? Simply take the components and design a rugged frame around them and boom!  Instant success! From a 50,000-foot view, that is a simple way to explain it. The following article will go into more detail to explain a few things on how OSS differentiates itself from its competitors and why you should choose One Stop Systems for your next edge application project where you need performance without compromise!

More Than Just a Rugged Box

Taking enterprise level components such as NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs and placing them in a rugged system that can withstand vibration, temperature, and in some instances humidity, takes more than just a rugged box. OSS conducts rigorous testing and evaluations on all our rugged systems to ensure that they meet or exceed the customer requirements. In fact, we design all our systems to meet MIL-STD-810G standards, which ranges from environmental stress screening to marine watercraft. To meet this, the system must go through a series of tests ranging from altitude, high & low temperature, vibration, and even acoustic noise.

OSS

We meet these requirements in various ways, whether it be adding hold down bars for the different I/O devices, designing our rugged systems for optimal air flow for maximum cooling, liquid immersion cooling, or frame-in-frame designs to minimize vibration just to name a few.

Our Rigel Edge Supercomputer is pound for pound the most power dense rugged edge system available on the market. OSS was able to design this rugged system around NVIDIA’s Redstone board that utilizes the SXM form factor A100 GPUs. This allows all 4 GPUs to interconnect with each other creating unmatched performance and power!  We are the only company that NVIDIA allows to build and design around this board as we are a Tier 2 OEM Partner with NVIDIA. This system is also NVIDIA certified, you can learn more about that here.

We also utilize NVIDIA’s NVLink technology, which allows their GPUs to be interconnected together to create even faster speeds from the GPUs to meet the most demanding workloads.

In the AI Transportable markets, we come across a wide range of power requirements. These requirements could be DC or AC depending on the application. Our systems include Common Redundant Power Supply (CRPS) form factor power supplies that allow for swapping out of the power supplies based on customer requirements. However, we take the power supplies and ruggedize them so the power can be delivered at the very edge.

PCIe Experts

With every release of the next generation of PCIe, OSS has been the first to market with the newest generations. We have recently released PCIe Gen 5 products and are currently shipping to our customers as you read this article.  OSS are experts and pioneers in PCIe, this allows us to design our systems to do certain things that you wouldn’t typically find in traditional data center servers or storage arrays. We have individuals on our engineering team that are active members of PCI-SIG to ensure OSS is compliant and influential with all things PCI. By utilizing PCIe, not only do we achieve lower latency and the highest performance, but this also allows for scalability and expansion, something our competitors do not offer. Visit our full line of rugged expansion systems here.

Unified-Baseboard Management Control (U-BMC)

OSS has designed and developed a baseboard management control (BMC) that allows the user to have a single pane of glass to monitor, manage, and control the entire system. We call this our Unified Baseboard Management Control.  The software supports different protocols such as Redfish and IPMI.  Some of the features that can be monitored are GPU temperatures, power, fan speed, as well as voltage ratings. These monitoring functions also can drill down further to obtain more information on each of the features. This is a feature that we are very excited about, as well as our customers.

Our Team

One of the key things that makes OSS different and stand out above our competition is our team. We have experts in every facet of our company starting from the very top all the way through our production floor.

When working with our customers, our teams will act as an extension of our customer’s team to ensure all requirements are met on new projects. Our support team is an email or phone call away to answer any questions or concerns with the system once you receive it and will ensure that the customer is taken care of. Our supply chain team are experts at resolving any issues that might arise with parts, and our Executive team is quick to jump in and support all of us when needed.

And above all else, we at OSS want our customers to succeed. We strive to provide the upmost support and service through our products as well as our employees to ensure our customers are taken care of and can exceed all their goals.

So, when it comes to choosing a company that can meet and exceed all your rugged edge application goals, whether that be autonomous trucking, medical robotics, military aircraft, or ground stations; OSS is the company that is willing to work with and alongside you to help you achieve those goals! With 25 years of experience in high-speed computing, we are more than capable of designing a system that can meet and exceed all of your needs!
