Video Editing, Storage, Rendering, Color Grading and more.
Artificial Intelligence is augmenting high-end video production workflows in Media and Entertainment applications driving the need for no compromise high-performance compute and storage systems designed specifically for rugged operation on-set and in the field. Rugged transportable AI systems are required at venues to process very high-resolution video in real time and manage complex event video special effects and light shows. In addition, AI transportable systems are required on set to provide extremely large amounts of memory and storage bandwidth to capture the high-speed data flows generated with 8K raw camera output. Ruggedized removeable storage is needed to transfer the massive data files created on set for transport to post-production systems without the unacceptable latency and cost of network connections.
AI transportable systems are required at venue and on-set to provide large amounts of memory and storage bandwidth to capture the high-speed data flows.
Our high-performance computing appliances add tremendous compute power and vast amounts of flash storage for media and entertainment applications.
High capacity data transfer using hot swappable storage media provides efficient support of the Set to Post workflow.
On set daily output from 8K cameras can fill multiple terabytes of disk storage. When it comes to filming in 8K, video files are exponentially larger than older formats. There are a lot of factors to consider when determining how many GB or TB of storage is needed when shooting in 8K: how many cameras, how many hours the cameras will be shooting, frames per second, video compression type, etc. One hour of raw 8k footage would require 9TB of storage which is approximately 150GB per minute. A single day of shooting can create over a 200TB raw 8k footage before any post production work has been done. Transfer of these files for post-production often can’t wait for the latency of network uploads. High capacity data transfer using hot swappable storage media provides efficient support of the Set to Post workflow especially when using NVMe PCIe based flash memory based SSDs.
RELATED PRODUCTSHigh-end GPU systems with large storage subsystems are required for near real-time manipulation of data files.
During post production, the raw video footage generated by high end cameras needs to be rendered or edited to create final products. High-end GPU systems with large storage subsystems are required. NMVe PCIe flash memory based storage provides the best bandwidth and latency for these intense applications allowing near real-time manipulation of data files to enhance the creative editing process. High speed rendering and color correction allows for more iterations in fixed time budgets. AI techniques are now being deployed which aid in the intermediate rendering and display process to provide the creative editor with early views of intended final quality. Using NVMe storage vs. traditional SSDs allows data to being transferred directly across the PCIe bus eliminating traditional storage protocol bottlenecks. Fast post-production techniques are not only important in the movie and television industry, but are also used in product design, architecture, and the video game development.
RELATED PRODUCTSHigh performance compute and storage systems for high resolution real-time video streams.
High-end live events utilized real time video special effects to enhance the audience experience. High performance compute and storage systems are required to capture, manipulate and output high resolution video streams in real time to create the interactive visual environment for the performers and audience. These AI transportable applications required rugged platforms that can be easily moved from venue to venue while maintaining reliability. Often the operating environment has extreme requirements in terms of temperature and humidity.
